What is Studying Abroad?
To answer that question let me first introduce myself. Hello, my name is Sofie Carlin, and in 3 months I will be leaving for Germany to study abroad with the non-profit, international youth exchange company, American Field Service. Its mission is to work towards a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
Studying abroad is where you get to fully immerse yourself into another country's culture for either a short time, like a 2-week summer program, a semester, or year. And, Through AFS, I will get to experience a few things most people don't. It is truly a once-in-a lifetime adventure. So, through this program, I am excited to see a different, but new culture, learn the local language, and of course, taste foreign foods. Furthermore, this whole travel bug started when I was a little girl. My family has and still do travel a lot, from different states, to just the nearest city; seeing the most uncommon things. Because of that, It has instilled a sense of curiosity, and has made me more curious, as well as aware of the world around me. That is why I would love to study abroad because I could, not only see the world, but I also would get to truly immerse myself into the German culture.
But, In order to go on this life-changing journey, I need help lowering the cost. It's about a couple thousand to do this, not mentioning the extra fees, which is why I am creating this. No amount is to big or to small, and remember, this fundraiser last till January 1, 2019. So yall still have plenty of time to donate. I do hope that you would be so kind to take a little bit of time out of your day to help me raise the money, in order to help me go on this life-changing adventure. It would mean the world to me, and it would help me and family out so much. Now, within this post, there's a little thing called Sponsor an AFSer. Sponsor an AFSer is an online fundraising tool provided by AFS-USA to allow potential contributors to make easy, secure, and non tax-deductible contributions to my AFS program fee.
